On this week’s episode of Out and About, Dr. Mae Gilliland of ArtsPartners of Central Illinois talks with Rose Farrell of Peoria Public Library about how the library is celebrating 100 years of Black History Month.

From the Lakeview Branch’s month-long Knowledge Quest to a hat display honoring pioneering milliner Mae Reeves, the library offers programs that invite interaction and reflection. Rose also shares details on the February 9 screening of Sinners, a supernatural thriller set in the Jim Crow South, as well as a Black author book club and her own thoughts on how PPL’s Black History Month programming has evolved over her 15-year tenure.

Mae Gilliland Wright is the host of WCBU's Out & About.
